Isnt it funny Stew, even though AMTRA is only a trail bike riding club, I think a lot of our members share the same sentiments, and goals, and we also have very close friendships with each other from riding togeather on a regular basis, and some of us like to get our kids involved when ever we can, as we also realize that they are the future of our club and sport. We also have similar issues with track closures etc. Will

Good call Will. Some of the best rides with Amtra have been when the Amtra part gell's together to get a obsticle or problem beaten on the day. And as at the HCR this weekend when the genni poo'd itself, the club comes together and everyone gets a job. And then by magic, problem fixed!

Stew. Good clip to watch! Lots of riding i love doing (without the stop watch) and the way inwhich it unites people with the same goals with very different back grounds and life styles. With the riding of motor bikes been the commen link.

Exactly what I wanted to point out, the comraderie that is produced from the common goal of riding is amazing.  People from all walks of life sharing a passion that brings them together.
The mix of persons riding dirtbikes is vast, tradies, accountants, office workers, garbo's, kids, mothers and many more.
One of the reasons I like enduro racing over the harescramble or motoX is that it is more laid back, there is time at resets to trash talk about the sections you have been through and after the race to hang out and reminice about the good bad and ugly.
Enduro's are like a four hour trail ride with timed sections for those that want some competiveness thrown in.

I failed to finish four of the nine enduro's in my first season because my body and my strategy was not up to the task.
But now I expect to finish well in my class barring mechanical problems.. Being able to pace yourself, ride smarter, not harder. Saving energy, being hydrated etc.

Just wish I had got into this sport twenty years earlier.

Stew.
I like to think i run my rides like an enduro? With lots of short special sections joined together with very short transport type sections, that just keep coming all day. I like this style of ride because as im very out right speed challedged, i can leed a group of guns out through the gate. And one by one wear them down over the course of the day, until you need to help them back into their cars at the end of the day! I lucky to be on the bike a lot and push myself a lot with technical riding and bike fittness, so i roll in the gate at the end of the day at the same pace i left it in the morning. Its a great equalizer for me and allows me to ride with a lot of riders i would be to slow to keep up with normally. But like you i wish i found bikes, riding and club life a lot earlier, and i may have used my youth a little more wisely.
Cheers Al

That video totally sums it all up Stew! I was in the Whittlesea Motorcycle club from the age of 7-13 and my old man only had a road bike but he enjoyed helping out here and there whether it was marshalling on different corners on the tracks or cooking the barbie. It was all about the sharing the same interest meeting up with the same people time and time again and noone was looked up to or down to any different than anyone else.

Haha fair dinkum? Did you ever ride with the club? And yes i remember Peter Lennox cant think of a face but deffinately the name. I was a member with them from 97-02. I was known for being in that headon on my xr80 with the rm80 next to the Broadford flat track that stopped the riders who were on it at the time. I think that was the xmas party of 98 or 99 when that happened
